Rotary Lobe Pumps are used in the field of lithium battery manufacturing for conveying lithium battery slurry or auxiliary materials, including various stages such as pulping and homogenization, to transport high viscosity battery slurry. How to choose the appropriate brand and specifications of rotary pumps? There are mainly 9 aspects to consider.

1. Appropriate Rotational Speed. The cost of pumps with the same parameters varies depending on the speed, but for media with strong wear resistance, the wear life is related to the speed index. Therefore, the lower the speed, the longer the lifespan, and the better the reliability.

2. Suitable Pump Model. Manufacturers design pump types in various series, such as large, medium, and small. Therefore, some types have overlapping spectra, which means that there may be several pump types to choose from with the same parameters, even at similar speeds. In this case, it is preferred to choose the pump series or the larger base size, although the equipment investment is slightly higher, which saves a lot of spare parts and maintenance costs in the future.

3. Machine Seal Reliability. High solid content media cause significant wear on components, and the reliability of mechanical seals is particularly critical. If the machine seal fails and material leakage occurs after 1-2 months or even 1-2 weeks of operation, it will not only affect production by shutting down for maintenance and cleaning pipelines, but also cause the entire batch of materials to be unqualified due to material leakage, resulting in significant losses for users. 4. Accuracy of Synchronous Gears. Synchronous gears have high precision, smooth operation, low vibration and noise, and the rotors match each other without squeezing or tearing, avoiding delamination and eliminating abnormal wear of components. gears achieve AGMA standard level 12 (national standard level 6) or higher precision, which is 2-3 levels higher than the precision of conventional rotary pumps.

5. High Quality Bearings. Bearings are also key components that determine the smooth operation of pumps and the lifespan of components. 6. Material and Processing Technology of Pump Shaft. The main materials for the pump shaft of industrial pumps are carbon steel and alloy steel. Carbon steel has low cost and is easy to process. The pump shaft uses AISI4140 (42CrMo) alloy, which has better metal properties and strength than carbon steel. At the same time, surface heat treatment improves hardness. The shaft displacement is very small during pump operation, and the wear of working parts is small. The pump is wear-resistant, the component life is long, and the spare parts and maintenance costs are low.

7. Pump Shaft Design. Under the same material and processing technology, the strength of the pump shaft diameter is better with a thicker diameter. The shaft neck of the pump is 20-30% larger than that of the conventional design rotor pump shaft neck. At the same time, it adopts the internationally advanced non stepped shaft design concept to avoid pump shaft wear deviation and the possibility of stepped shaft breakage.

8. Material of Components. High solid content and strong wear medium, in addition to improving wear resistance and extending service life in design, it is also very important to use suitable materials for working components. Choosing appropriate materials for working components such as pump casing (liner), wear-resistant liner, and rotor of lithium battery slurry conveying pump can improve its service life. For example, metal components made of duplex stainless steel are more wear-resistant than stainless steel, and ceramic lining plates are more wear-resistant than duplex stainless steel; The rotor can be covered with a metal skeleton and rubber, or if the budget is sufficient, a ceramic rotor can be used as a whole.

Can the components be reused. Users are increasingly concerned about the cost of spare parts and maintenance in the later stage, so whether the pump working components can be reused has become an important determining factor for customers to choose a brand. The design of the rotary pump adopts the concept of low-carbon and environmental protection, and adopts an adjustable clearance design for the pump casing. After wear and tear, there is no need to replace spare parts. Performance can be restored by adjusting the clearance between the pump casing and rotor. The pump casing (or lining plate) and rotor can be adjusted twice and reused three times before replacement, which can save 70% of spare parts costs and avoid the problem of insufficient spare parts and downtime for repair affecting production.
